It took her all day and late into the night, but Lisa Cockroft managed to complete the mammoth task by completing a staggering 1,350 laps of her garden.

Lisa, 37, said: “My daughter ran over my feet twice on her bike.

“I was having to weave around the trampoline.”

The mum-of-three had been due to compete in challenge event The Woldsman in Driffield last Saturday.

Having trained all winter, through dark nights and stormy weather, Lisa didn’t want her hard work to go to waste.

“I’d been training since September,” she said. “I just thought ‘why not do it in the garden?’

“My husband thought I was crackers.”

Lisa, who has been a member of Bridlington Road Runners since last year, said she missed the company of other runners who usually spur her on during a race.

“It was hard, really hard,” she said. “The last 10 miles felt like forever.

“At one point I just wanted to have a sit down and watch Saturday Night Take Away.”

She started the incredible challenge at 9.30am and finished just before 10pm - running for an amazing 12 hours and 30 minutes.

“It didn’t feel real when it was finished,” she said. “I’d run 50 miles and never actually left my house.

“I ached so much but I felt very proud that I hadn’t let this virus stop me from becoming an ultra runner.”

Lisa, who is mum to 13-year-old James, 11-year-old Harry and five-year-old Claudia, started running three years ago and went from never thinking she would never do more than two miles

to finding a passion for distance running.

She has only left her home to run a handful of times recently as Claudia was recently diagnosed with type one diabetes.

She and her husband, Martin, are trying to limit their trips out of their house to picking up supplies.

Lisa is booked to take on a 24-hour run in July and says if that too is cancelled, she may do that in her garden as well.
