All CaVCA sites have been closed and staff are now operating community support projects across the area (virtually where possible).

In a statement on CaVCA’s website, CEO, Mel Bonney-Kaye stated that the groups non-emergency support includes:

- Telephone/email friendship service

- Support with collecting shopping/prescriptions

- Information and guidance to self-isolators or those otherwise affected

- A brokerage service for offers of help.

CaVCA recommend that if people have friends, family or local community groups that they can turn to, then these options should be explored first. However, it is important that no one is left isolated and struggling alone.

Community Initiative Facilitator, Jo Laking, said: “People are all pulling together, but even people in Whitby may be isolated, we need to find them. If you need help, please get in touch.

“Also, any offers of help will be gladly accepted.”

If you need assistance or if you can offer help, CaVCA can be contacted by calling 01723 362205 and leaving a message on the answerphone, alternatively email [email protected]
