The 22-year-old, who lives in Driffield, had an operation on her foot and, because of Covid-19, it has proved a long process.

“I have stayed positive,” said Lucy. “My dream is to win the Miss Yorkshire title and represent my region in the Miss England final as it would be such a great honour and I look forward to continuing to raise money for such a worthy cause as Beauty With a Purpose with events such as bingo, karaoke and quiz nights," she said.

"I will also be doing a sponsored skydive in the near future upon completion of the recovery of my foot."

Originally from Bempton, Lucy spent her infant years and beginning of secondary schooling at Scarborough College.

Her interested in dancing started at Scarborough YMCA. It then progressed with the Variety School of Dance (Scarborough) until her college years when she then studied her qualification in musical theatre.

She is continuing higher education studies and doing a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre to continue her passion to become a teacher.

Away from the catwalk, Lucy is a professional singer, dancer and personal trainer who has performed all over the world for travel and tourism firm TUI until sustaining an injury that resulted in her returning to the UK for joint and toe reconstruction.

“I have trained to dance since I was three years old and have since studied to gain a qualification in musical theatre,” said Lucy. “There may be challenges as to whether I can dance to the same level I was originally at and with this in mind I am now studying my BA Hons in musical theatre at Hull University so that I can become a teacher and remain in the industry.”

“At the start it was unsure on the outcome of the surgeries that I had. However it has come out for the best. The thing that got me through this was to not give up and keep believing that there will always be a way I can continue my dream career as a professional dancer.

"I hope in my Miss England journey that I can inspire others that they can do anything if they set their minds to it. I want to help others that are in similar situations and help them to get to achieve the dreams that they want.”

Miss England has continued through the pandemic with heats so far having been held digitally with photo / text votes and video rounds. Miss Yorkshire is due to take place at the Earl of Doncaster Hotel in Doncaster on Sunday November 22nd (subject to Government guidance) or will take place online.

“Having sustained my injury I saw things regarding Miss England on social media and I thought to myself, why not give it a try? Why not me? I entered my first pageant last year and reached the Miss England semi finals, after which I remember being so happy that I had entered as it was an incredible experience. You meet friends for life at beauty pageants and from then on it has been my dream to win Miss Yorkshire and represent my region in the final.”
