Helmsley Town Council looking to take over car parks ahead of local government shake-up
Helmsley Town Council wants to take over the running of the market town’s busy car parks and public conveniences from Ryedale District Council in the wake of the planned big shake-up of local government.
A new large unitary authority is expected to be announced in the next few months which will see Ryedale merged with neighbouring authorities.
But the town authority is now exploring the possibility of taking over the facilities including the Market Square and Cleveland Way parks.
It has set up a working party and is asking Ryedale House for key facts about the car parks.
