Homes in Scarborough left without power this morning

Northern Powergrid says the power cut, affecting some homes in the town centre around Northway, has been "caused by an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment that serve your area".

The company estimates power will be restored by around 10.15am.

Last night, properties in the Peasholm area were briefly left without power, which was restored at around 11pm.

And yesterday afternoon the traffic lights on Northway, at its junctions with Victoria Road and also Westborough, were out for a short time.
