The festival had been planned to commemorate Wordsworth’s 250th birthday with a number of celebrations designed to capitalise on the notable poet’s marriage to Mary Hutchinson, which took place at All Saints Church in the village.

Whilst the planned celebrations are no longer going ahead, certain elements of the festival were set in motion back in November and consequently, a ‘host of golden daffodils’ planted by the village children are in full bloom.

Dr Mary said: “Although there are no services now, the church remains open and

people are welcome to go into the church for some peace and quiet reflection at this time of stress.

“It is particularly lovely at the moment with daffodils shining out behind the altar.”

Dr Mary said people are welcome to take a pot of daffodils after Easter to plant in their gardens. The collecting bell will be moved to a convenient location nearby for donations.
