Cllr Tidd joined in February 1960 when the parish council met in the reading rooms at Burniston on a quarterly basis. Cllr Alan Hill, chairman of the parish council, said it was a fantastic achievement for Peter who has provided his wisdom and support for the village for so long.

Cllr Hill said: “Peter is a valued member of the parish council and has supported the village community where he can.

“He had seen many changes to the village during his time on the council and frequently reminds us of times gone by.”
