Pickering Town Council to honour Covid-19 heroes with volunteers award

Pickering Town Council is seeking to honour volunteers who have been champions for their fellow residents during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pickering Town Council is seeking to honour volunteers who have been champions for their fellow residents during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Town Clerk Angela Dawson said a new awards scheme had been set up to acknowledge the dedication of the volunteers.

She said: “So many people have done amazing work helping residents with a wide range of things such as collecting shopping and prescriptions, and now helping out at the town’s surgery with organising Covid-19 vaccinations.”

However, she added the Volunteer Service Awards were also open to volunteers in general in Pickering as well as those who have helped through the pandemic.

Nominations have to be made by Wednesday, March 31 and from are available from the town council offices at the Memorial Hall, Pickering and via its Facebook page.
