Town Clerk Angela Dawson said a new awards scheme had been set up to acknowledge the dedication of the volunteers.

She said: “So many people have done amazing work helping residents with a wide range of things such as collecting shopping and prescriptions, and now helping out at the town’s surgery with organising Covid-19 vaccinations.”

However, she added the Volunteer Service Awards were also open to volunteers in general in Pickering as well as those who have helped through the pandemic.

Nominations have to be made by Wednesday, March 31 and from are available from the town council offices at the Memorial Hall, Pickering and via its Facebook page.
