The Whitby area paid tribute to the Armed Forces with a flag-raising at Dock End.

Youngsters from Stakesby Primary Academy and Airy Hill School took part in a parade of military-inspired costumes while a Hawk flypast followed the raising of the flag.

Mayor of Whitby, Cllr Linda Wild, said: "It's a proud day for the town and there's a lot of loyalty in Whitby towards the Armed Forces."
