Police confirm man's death in crash outside holiday park in Filey

UPDATE: Police have now confirmed that the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s from Filey, died at the scene after he collided with the Shoreline Suncruisers double decker bus outside the Haven Blue Dolphin caravan park.

The crash happened just after 5pm on Thursday outside the children's play area and the bus caught fire.

He was riding a black Suzuki motorbike and his family have been informed.

The bus was evacuated and no passengers were hurt.

Stonepit Lane remains closed tonight.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the collision or the collision itself, who did not speak to an officer at the scene, to contact them. They would be particularly interested to hear from anyone who captured dashcam footage of the incident.

A major emergency services response is at the scene on Stonepit Lane, near the Blue Dolphin caravan park, this evening.

Smoke can be seen billowing from the wreckage of the bus, a double decker belonging to Scarborough firm Shoreline Suncruisers, which runs local services as well as private hire.

North Yorkshire Police and the air ambulance are in attendance and Stonepit Lane is expected to remain closed for several hours.

The crash scene is beside the children's play area at the Haven-owned holiday park.

They have not yet released any information about casualties.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area.
