Police investigate reports of assault and racial abuse involving two groups in Scarborough town centre

Police are investigating reports of an assault and racial abuse in Scarborough on Saturday.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Officers attended an altercation involving two groups on Falconers Road in Scarborough at about 3.15pm on Saturday. The groups dispersed.

"Subsequently, police were contacted with reports of an assault and racial abuse in connection with the incident. We take such reports extremely seriously, and enquiries are ongoing."

Anyone with information that might help with the police's investigation should call police via 101.
