Roundabout signs popping up on our roads to thank NHS

The metal signs, featuring the rainbow symbol and the words Thank You NHS and Thank You Carers are designed to be an uplifting message of appreciation to key workers as they travel to work.

The first of the signs were installed this morning on the Castle Hill roundabout along the A164 at Cottingham, the nearest roundabout to Castle Hill Hospital.

Over the next few weeks, more signs will be installed on roundabouts in:

Bessingby Road, Bridlington

Minster Way, Beverley

Normandy Way, Goole

The Balk, Pocklington.

Councillor Richard Burton, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Many key workers across the East Riding are doing an outstanding job at this very difficult time.

“These rainbow roundabout signs are just a small way of showing our support and appreciation for those hard-working staff in the NHS and in the care sector who are providing essential help and care to so many people in our community.

“We hope they might see the signs on their way to or from work and know everyone in the East Riding is thankful for what they are doing.”

Two signs – one for the NHS and one for carers - will be fitted on to each roundabout.

At the base of each sign, the council is planning to plant some aubrietia flowers – blue and white for the NHS and purple and white for carers – in the coming weeks.
