Run to Remember raises hundreds of pounds in Scarborough
The team of 11 pairs of runners covered nearly 200 miles between them to mark Remembrance Sunday with the Run to Remember.
The event was organised by Andy Messenger, from Road Runners Club, and Dale Hepples, from Scarborough Athletics Club.

“As a town, we have so many runners. It seemed to give people something to get behind,” said Andy, 35.
The relay event saw each pair running laps of a loop which took in the war memorial at Oliver’s Mount for an hour before the next pair started.
The first pair set off after marking the two-minute silence at 11am. Andy and Dale took on the last shift, running from 9pm to 10pm.

The pair organised the event in a matter of days and had aimed to raise £200 but have so far collected more than £650 for the Royal British Legion.

Andy is no stranger to fundraising, having completed a gruelling 24-hour run to raise funds for mental health charity CALM earlier this year.
