With normal trick or treating cancelled this year due to Covid-19, the Helmsley Scout Group wanted to think of a way Halloween could still be enjoyed by youngsters. They are asking people to draw, paint, create or carve a pumpkin to have on display in a window or garden during half term week, which Halloween falls within, so families can go on a pumpkin hunt around the town.

Lynn Hempsall, from Helmsley Traditional Sweetshop, said: “We have encouraged members of the Helmsley in Business group to get involved, and hopefully lots of residents will too.

“We think it’s a great idea from the Scouts so children in the town can still safely take part in Halloween and do something fun.”
