St Catherine's, Rainbow Centre and Sea Cadets receive £4,000 from charity drive

A charity drive at Scarborough Harbour has raised a sparkling £3,849 for charity.

Thursday, 11th February 2021, 11:30 am

The South Bay Sparkle was organised over Christmas by South Bay Traders Association and Scarborough Yacht Club members.

More than 25 yachts in the harbour were festooned with colourful Christmas lights, with people urged to donate, and there was also a children’s photographic competition.

Money is still coming in, and the near-£4,000 proceeds will be shared between Saint Catherine’s, The Rainbow Centre and Scarborough Sea Cadets.

Rudi Barman, John Senior, Heath Samples, James Corrigan and Guy Smith were the chief organisers, supported by Scarborough Yacht Club’s members.

Children were asked to take a photo of the yachts lightshow. The winners were Alexia Barnes £100), Samvith Ram Vignesh (£50) and Amy Casson (£25).
