The lorry had been turning left into Dunslow Road, at the traffic lights near the Des Winks car showroom, when the potatoes cascaded out.

Filey and Eastfield police tweeted: "Dunslow Road in Eastfield currently closed. A wagon has shed its load of potatoes. A few of us chipping in to help clear it so should be open again shortly. Please avoid for time being."

It happened at about 1.30pm on Friday, and you didn't need to keep your eyes peeled to see the spuds, they covered the road!
