Ross’s partner, Trisha Cole, said: “Last night was the first time he’d sung out on the street.

“We used to live in Spain and Cyprus where he was a singer but that was seven years ago.”

Ross, who works at Columbus Ravine Funeralcare, had been singing in care homes until the coronavirus restrictions came into place.

Unable to go inside to sing any more, he recently staged an outdoor performance for residents outside The Woodlands at Primrose Valley in Filey.

“The song last night was my suggestion,” said Trisha. “The words of the song are quite appropriate.

“The neighbours have been great. They’ve already requested he does another song next week.”
