West Pier claimed a 2-0 win against Newlands in the Scarborough News Saturday League at the Flamingo Land Stadium on Wednesday night.

A thunderous second-half strike from Jamie Bradshaw and Gary Thomas's 85th-minute header earned all three points for the defending champions.

Corey Towell saved Sean Exley's spot-kick after Martin Cooper had been fouled.

Pier's defence of Jake Adams, Jim Wardle, Jake Brown and Mikey Pickering all impressed in the victory.

Pier are now a point behind leaders Hunmanby United, and they face a tricky trip to Seamer Sports this Saturday, 2pm kick-off.
