The students, Abbi Bushby Macey Burn and Phoebe Barnes, are making a concerted effort to make sure the event, held on Wednesday 14 December at 2pm, is a complete success.

The senior citizens will be treated to an afternoon tea and entertainment, including a raffle and bingo at the party.

However, more prizes are still needed for the afternoon and the students have sent out letters to businesses in the area hoping to bolster the coffers.

One student said: “The reason we hold this Christmas party is so the senior citizens can spend some time together and not on their own. The event will be fun-filled with a huge raffle and brilliant bingo, along with entertainment by the students.

“Prizes can be dropped into the reception or call the school for more information.”

A spokeswoman at the school, Debbie Simpson, said: The students have already sent out letters to a number of local companies.

“The party still needs various raffle and bingo prizes
to make the event a huge success.

“The senior citizens will get a tea and entertainment before the bingo, so it would be great if anyone can donate a prize.

“Also, if any senior citizen would like to attend the party please get in touch with the school.”

To find out how to donate a prize or funds, or if you are a senior citizen who would like to take part, call the school on 01723 582194.
