Entries are now open for this year’s McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k and organisers are expecting a record number of runners.
The event, which is organised by Scarborough Athletic Club and McCain, will be held on Sunday October 11.
Kicking off at the Spa Complex, the 10 kilometre course will follow Scarborough’s coastline to the Sea Life Centre and back.
The main race is followed by a 2.5 kilometre Family Fun Run and, for the first time, a shorter 1.5k Fun Run, perfect for children and anyone wanting to run the shore on a smaller scale.
Race director, Chris Clayton, said: “Preparations have begun for our seventh annual McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k.
“We had a fantastic response last year and reached capacity quickly so we’ve increased our maximum race entries to 1,750 for 2015.
“The Family Fun Run also proved really popular, with over 700 runners taking part. At only £1 to enter, we’re looking forward to welcoming hundreds of youngsters to the start line this year.”
As a responsible family-owned food manufacturer, McCain supports the 10k and Family Fun Run as part of its commitment to encouraging healthy, active lifestyles in the community.
Corporate communications manager at McCain, Victoria Stephenson, added: “It is an event that the whole of Scarborough can be proud of.
“People travel from other towns, cities and even countries to run along our scenic coastline.
“Having 10k, 2.5k and 1.5k courses means there’s something for everyone.
“Last year we had runners ranging from three years old to 80 - whatever your age or running ability, it’s a great day to be part of.”
More one hundred places have already been snapped up by people keen to take part in this year’s event.
