HOSPICE supporters turned out despite the bad weather to plough in a mighty fundraising record for patient services.
The annual Vintage Working Day and Ploughing Match returned to Mill Lane at the end of last month, featuring vintage machinery, Shire horses, steam engines, threshing display, tractors, motorbikes, auction and various stalls in aid of Saint Catherine’s Hospice.
Event organisers, Terry and Molly Oakley and Eddie Brown were able to hand over a huge cheque for patient care at Saint Catherine’s Hospice to Jane Richardson of the fundraising team.
Mrs Richardson said: “On the day of the match it was such a cold, windy day that Molly was worried that the event wouldn’t raise as much for us, but amazingly the total of £6860 was the largest ever, well over £1500 more than last year.
“We are incredibly grateful to them for all the work they do for Saint Catherine’s Hospice and thanks also go to all the people who went along and supported the day”
