POLICE have launched a public appeal after a pensioner went missing in Scarborough.
George Wood, 76, absconded from the Norbreck Hotel, in Castle Road, at 11:45 on Saturday morning.
Mr Wood is said to suffer from Alzheimer’s disease.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said he was “particularly concerned” for the gentleman’s safety. “He may be in a state of confusion,” he added.
Police have not yet issued a photograph of Mr Wood, although they have asked members of the public to be on the lookout for him and issued a detailed description.
Mr Wood is described as being 5ft 11in tall. with a slim build and short grey hair.
He was wearing a fawn-coloured baseball cap and trousers, with a brown body warmer over a checked shirt.
Just before he went missing, he had blue and white sand shoes on.
Mr Wood is also missing half of the finger next to his thumb on his left hand.
Anybody who believes they have seen Mr Wood is asked to contact police immediately.
