Police hunt man over alleged attack on German tourist

Police in Scarborough have released an image of a man they want to speak to following an assault on a German tourist in a pub.

The attack happened in the Ramshill Hotel, Ramshill Road, on Saturday October 10.

The 44-year-old man from Germany who was visiting Scarborough and attending a gig at the Ramshill, was punched to the head several times after intervening when a man showed unwanted attention towards a woman he was with.

​The victim was attacked a second time by the suspect, causing him to fall to the floor and knock over the woman he was with who was also visiting from Germany.​

Both the man and woman sustained minor injuries in the incident and have since returned to Germany.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Anyone who can help identify the man shown in the image is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for PC James Dunn or email james.dunn@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
