SCARBOROUGH Council’s scrutiny process could be overhauled if councillors decide to adopt a new structure next week.
The decision will be taken by members of the council’s Cabinet at a meeting on Tuesday.
Officers have recommended that the current scrutiny and overview committees be replaced by four new scrutiny committees each with 10 to 12 members.
According to a Cabinet report the recommendation has been made to improve the governance of the council, to ensure that scrutiny better reflects the changing nature of the council’s role, to ensure a more even distribution of work among the four committees and to make the scrutiny function more intelligible to the public.
The Cabinet is due to meet at the town hall from 10am on Tuesday.
