A NEW code of conduct could be introduced by Scarborough Council following a period of consultation with affected parties.
Yesterday members of the Cabinet approved the move which will eventually be decided at a future meeting of the full council.
Members were told by Lisa Dixon, the council’s legal services, that it would be a similar policy to other authorities – including North Yorkshire County Council – and it would avoid confusion if members sat on several councils.
She added that the number of “vexatious or trivial” complaints could be reduced as a result of the new code.
It is understood that it could be introduced by July.
