The council is contacting subscribers by email to remind them to renew their subscription so their licence can be updated for the 2021 scheme.

A council spokesman said: “New subscribers purchasing a brown bin and licence for the first time will receive a sticker, which will arrive in the post and must be attached to the bin to enable the council’s collection crews to check the subscription is up to date.

“Subscribers using garden waste sacks will not receive a sticker.

"The crews work off a customer list in the cab of the collection wagon ensuring only subscribers receive collections.

“If customers signed up last year then they do not need a new sticker as it remains the same each year.”

Households can renew or join online here.

Customers without online access can call 01723 232323.
