Three new members to join Scarborough Council's cabinet

Council leader Cllr Steve Siddons (Lab) announced at today’s cabinet meeting that the new faces will join the cabinet starting on March 1.

Labour Cllr Carl Maw will be joined by Independent Group members Cllr Phil Kershaw and Cllr Michelle Donohue-Moncrieff.

It will bring the make-up of the cabinet to three Labour and three Independent Group members under a Labour leader.

Cllr Siddons said that the new portfolios for the new-look cabinet would be announced at a later date and said the changes would “strengthen” the council.

Labour and the Independent Group are running the council in a power-sharing agreement as together they make up 50% of the borough’s 46 councillors.

The two groups are also backed by the Green Party’s two members.
