A MAJOR project to regenerate a neglected area of Barrowcliff is set to get Cabinet approval next week.
Last week it was announced that a £100,000 grant had been awarded to the Jonno’s Field improvement project.
Officers have recommended that members of Scarborough Council’s Cabinet approve the implementation of the project.
In a report by Pauline Elliott, the council’s head of regeneration and planning, she said that the total cost of the work would be £150,000 and £40,000 still needed to be found – including an £30,000 application to Scarborough Council.
She added that Groundwork North Yorkshire would manage and deliver the project on behalf of the council under an existing agreement for such schemes.
“The Jonno’s Field improvement project is an integral part of the My Barrowcliff Action Plan and as such represents a well-supported regeneration project that will help address significant deprivation in this area. Considerable funding has already been secured to support the project,” she said.
The meeting will be at the Town Hall on Tuesday from 10am.
