COUNCILLORS are due to decide on Friday who will be the next mayor and deputy mayor of Scarborough.
The decision will be taken at the meeting of Scarborough Council from 2pm.
At the time of going to press one nomination had been received for the role of mayor – Cllr Helen Mallory.
There are two nominations for the role of deputy mayor – Cllr Andrew Backhouse and Cllr Michael Jay-Hanmer – and members will vote between the two nominees.
The role of the mayor is currently being investigated by members of the council’s Resources Scrutiny Committee in the hope of identifying areas within the mayoralty service where savings can be made.
