THERE will be a public meeting tomorrow to discuss the proposed sale of Manor Road Nursery and placing the supply of plants to Scarborough Council in the hands of a private company.
It has been organised by members of the Friends of Manor Road group and will be from 2pm at St James’ Church Hall.
The proposal is due to be discussed at Friday’s meeting of Scarborough Council but the matter has been called in for further investigation by Cllr Peter Popple.
According to minutes from last Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting it has been proposed that the council should enter into an agreement with York-based Aldby Field Nurseries Ltd for the supply of plants in a deal worth up to £500,000 over a four-year period.
Councillors have also recommended that the disposal of the Manor Road Nursery site should be supported by further advice from officers.
