Two groups set up by Scarborough Athletic Club to encourage anyone who is recovering from injury or just wanting to keep fit are going from strength to strength.
‘Walk to Run’ set up in March last year has had a busy nine months with a variety of sessions being held at different venues and Beginners set up in 2013 have both seen a rapid increase in members.
The Beginners group has been so successful with 125 runners attending since its inception that Athletic Club leaders have renamed the group Improver/Intermediate with regular runners now running upto four and a half miles on a regular basis including sprints and hill work.
The ‘Walk to Run’ group has now taken over for those starting out on a new fitness regime or just wanting to keep fit and meets every Monday at 5.50pm and train for one hour from Scarborough Rugby Club on Scalby Road and on the first Monday of the month at the Sports Centre on Filey Road.
The Improver/Intermediate Group meet at 6.50pm on Thursdays at Scarborough Rugby Club.
