Pride ofMalton and Norton awards recognise shining stars in the local community.

The awards ceremony will take place at The Old Lodge in Malton on Saturday October 24.

It is being organised by Malton and Norton Community Events in association with the Malton and Pickering Mercury and Vale Radio.

The event aims to recognise those who make a real difference in the community and have a positive impact on the lives of others.

The categories for nominations are:

Volunteer of the Year - sponsored by Malton CIC

Local Hero - sponsored by Derwent Training Association

Dedication to Sport - Sponsored by AXA

Best New Business - Sponsored by Malton Coach Works

Food and Drink

Teacher of the year

Outstanding Achievement - Sponsored by Malton and Pickering Mercury.

There will also be a Special Award for Outstanding Achievement which will be presented by The Malton and Pickering Mercury.

Mandy said: “This is the sixth annual Pride of Malton and Norton Awards and it promises to be a fantastic event.

“There are two new categories this year – Best New Business and Dedication to Sport – so we are hoping to see lots of local people being put forward in those areas.

“There are so many deserving candidates in Malton and Norton for these awards and I would encourage people to get their nominations in as soon as possible with the deadline approaching.”

Tickets for the event cost £20 per person, which includes a drinks reception, two-course evening meal, coffee and mints, the awards presentation with compere Dougie Weakes, interval entertainment, plus a charity raffle and auction.

The event is a great way to celebrate the achievements of someone you know who has made a real difference in Malton and Norton.

The nominees will be featured in the Malton and Pickering Mercury.
