Supermarket chain Proudfoot has hit the right notes with a £250 donation to Scarborough Concert Band.

The donation will help towards the band’s charitable fundraising efforts.

The Scarborough Concert Band comprises around 40 members of all ages and is celebrating its 50-year anniversary this year.

The funding, made through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, will enable the band to hold free-to-attend fundraising concerts throughout the year to help local charities raise much-needed funds.

Malcolm Appleby, from the Scarborough Concert Band, said: “We were delighted to receive the donation from Proudfoot as it will help towards the costs of building hire and publicity for the events we have planned, in turn helping us to support other local charities and give something back to the Scarborough area.

“The band is all about enjoying music and we’re thrilled to be able to spread this joy throughout the community with our performances.”

Since the formation of Nisa’s charity, Making a Difference Locally in 2008, Proudfoot has donated around £40,000 to more than 100 local causes through the charity, ranging from local schools, sports clubs and community groups to charities, hospices and churches.

To help support causes in your area look for Heritage own label products or branded products highlighted with the MADL logo in Proudfoot stores.

Scarborough Concert Band rehearse every Wednesday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at St James Church on Seamer Road. New members of all ages are always welcome.
