Families and especially those with young children are in for a treat this Christmas as the North Yorkshire Moors Railway gears up for the festive period.
The popular railway is running a number of Santa Special excursions on the weekends of 28 and 29 November, 5 and 6 December, 12 and 13 December and 19 and 20 December. Most trains will depart from Pickering and Grosmont but some will also depart from Whitby.
Each journey will last approximately one hour.
Included in the price of £16 per person is an hour-long railway journey, a hot drink and mince pie, an activity pack for each child, and a visit to Santa in his on-board grotto with an age-related present for each child.
Chris Price, managing director of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, said: “With only a matter of weeks to go before Christmas, our stations and railway excursions amidst the North York Moors National Park are the perfect backdrop and start point for families looking for an enjoyable, day out in the run up to the festive season.
“Set within beautiful countryside, the railway is able to provide a means by which families can share a day out and introduce their children to Santa and to the magic of steam-powered locomotion. I would urge anyone wanting to take up the opportunity to book well in advance due to anticipated demand.”
