Raising a cuppa in aid of a good cause

COFFEE lovers shared a cuppa for charity in Scarborough for the Macmillan’s annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The fundraiser is one of the most important events on the Macmillan Cancer Support calendar and raises thousands of pounds for the charity every year.

People who called in for a coffee at Castle Interiors in Aberdeen Walk were able to try a cup from a top of-the-range coffee machine, along with tempting cakes, after the business organised its coffee morning with Macmillan in conjunction with kitchen appliance manufacturer Neff UK.

And Macmillan wasn’t the only charity to benefit from the day. Jason Fenwick organised a coffee morning outside Top Shop News in Nares Street, which is owned by his friends Libby and Steve Gilbert.

A total of £270 was raised for Marie Curie Cancer Cancer from the event, which included a bouncy castle, raffle and bun and cake stalls.

Jason said: “It was fantastic. I never expected to raise so much. I’d like to thank all of the local businesses that donated prizes.”
