YOUNGSTERS are preparing to light up the February sky as the second Coastival draws closer.
A series of lantern-making workshops for children have been held across Scarborough ahead of the Opening Spectacular, which will feature a lantern parade, on the first night of the arts festival from February 18-20.
The latest session was held at the Rotunda Museum and there is a £50 prize up for grabs for the best decorated individual lantern, to be announced at the parade on the evening of Friday February 18.
Photo entries must be emailed to email@example.com by Monday February 7.
Gigantic creatures from the prehistoric age will join the parade, which will start in Valley Road, beneath Valley Bridge, as it weaves its way towards the Spa.
After the parade there will be a “Scarborough’s Finest” concert, celebrating local talent, at the Spa from 6.30pm. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance by calling (01723) 384545.
The three-day event will include more than 100 events.
