More than 70 men, women, children and groups have be thanked for their hard work, kindness and determination in an event which will celebrate the borough’s unsung heroes.

The judging panel gathered at the Town Hall on Tuesday to consider the nominations for each of the 10 categories.

The panel also decided on who would take home the three special awards, including the Mayor’s Award, The Scarborough News Award and the Max Payne Memorial Award.

The competition was tough and each category was filled with plenty of worthy winners.

Invites to the award ceremony were posted earlier this week to everyone nominated.

The awards evening will be held on Tuesday April 19 at 6pm at the Scarborough Spa Complex.

Everyone who was nominated will receive a certificate on the night in recognition of all the special work that they have done in the community and some special awards will also be presented.

Letters will be sent to nominees and their nominators separately. Due to the growing popularity of the awards nominees can bring one guest and their nominator. Each nominee can bring up to two more guests with a charge of £6 to cover catering costs.

Parking at the Spa is limited with only a small number of disabled spaces. It is strongly recommended that those attending use the car park at Aquarium Top.
