A reunion is being held for former pupils of The Convent of the Ladies of Mary Grammar School at the end of this month.

The event will take place at the Spa Complex on Saturday July 25 from 10am to 2pm and will feature tea and coffee on arrival and lunch at 12.30pm.

Organiser Jennie Schmuck said it will be a chance for people to share memories, browse through old school albums and catch up with old friends.

She added: “The school started in 1882 and the doors closed in 1975, so it’s been 40 years since the school closed.

“The reunions have been going since then and were started up by Pat Barber and Pat Berry.

“I’ve carried it on from them with Ann Wilson and we’re looking to extend an invitation to any ‘old girls’ who would like to come along.” People are travelling to the reunion from far-flung destinations such as Canada, America and Malta.

Former pupils of the school include Woman in Black author Susan Hill and former Scarborough mayor Sheila Kettlewell.

Tickets for the event cost £16 to include lunch and are available from Jennie by calling (01723) 365118 or emailing
