BUS passengers were left puzzled after short-notice changes were made to some town centre routes due to roadworks.
Susan O’Donnell, of Queen Street, said that posters had only been placed on some of the affected bus stops to tell people about the Castle Road closure.
She said: “Lots of people didn’t know what was happening.
“I had to tell about 10 people what was going on.
“I can appreciate it may have been an emergency situation, but people weren’t informed properly.”
A notice on one bus stop in St Thomas Street reads: “All buses that normally use Castle Road will have to divert in both directions, and will not be able to serve stops at Harcourt Place, St Thomas Street, Castle Road or Queen Street.
“If you normally board or alight the bus here please use an alternative stop, for example, Aberdeen Walk or Westborough.
“Park and Ride buses will not be able to serve stops on Harcourt Place or St Thomas Street. Please board or alight at the York Place stop instead.
“Service 3A will still be able to run as normal, serving all its normal stops.
“This road closure is expected to last for five days.”
