A teenager is to be sentenced for GBH after he admitted seriously injuring a man during an attack in Malton.
Javay Kenny Mattis, 19, appeared at York Crown Court via video link on Tuesday when he pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on March 21.
Mattis, of Lime Tree Avenue, Malton, also pleaded guilty to an ABH charge which had previously been sent from York Magistrates’ Court.
He will be sentenced on May 11 and was remanded in custody until that date.
Defence counsel David Camige said there was an issue as to whether or not Mattis used a bottle during the attack on March 21.
Judge Stephen Ashurst said prosecution and defence counsel would have to resolve this issue otherwise the sentencing judge may hear evidence on whether a glass was used.
