The team at Scarborough Disablement Action group say they are delighted with the news and are now asking people for their support.

Chairman Ian Whitfield said: “I have been chairman for the last four years now and know how much support the group gives to the local people of Scarborough and surrounding areas.

“I know how much of an asset the charity is in the town and being successful in this funding would mean DAG can continue to offer support and guidance.”

People can vote by collecting a blue counter from a cashier in store and pop it into a voting box in the
Nationwide building society which is located opposite
Alma Square.

Scarborough DAG supports more than 6,000 people a year in the borough, giving support and advice to disabled people and carers too.

The charity is funded by donations it receives and winning the £5,000 grant as Nationwide’s charity of the year will enable its services to continue and for new services to be developed.
