Scarborough and Burniston Coastguard attended 111 incidents in 2019

Scarborough and Burniston coastguard attended 111 incidents last year, new figures released by the organisation reveal.

Of the 111 incidents, just over half (52 per cent) were water rescue, followed by search (18 per cent), medical (14 per cent), rope rescue (9 per cent) and security and investigation (7 per cent.)

The team assisted 85 people and saved 23 lives.

The busiest months were July, with 18 incidents, April and May, both with 14 incidents, and August, with 12 incidents.

The quietest month was November when the team dealt with only two incidents.
