Hide AdOn Friday, teams from Scarborough and Robin Hood's Bay were deployed to a commercial building off St Nicholas Street at 3.40pm on Friday to make a wooden railing of the seventh floor safe.
They used a rope rescue kit to carry out the task.
Earlier the same afternoon - at 2.26pm - firefighters had been called to Princess Street in Scarborough to concerns a chimney was collapsing.
This turned out to be a false alarm after high winds had blown a cowl off.
