Scarborough mountain rescue help elderly man airlifted to hospital

The Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team volunteers were called at 1.30pm yesterday to an elderly man who had become unwell and collapsed on arable land near Hovingham.

The patient was carried to an air ambulance and airlifted to hospital.

Rescue volunteers were also called at 11.21am yesterday morning to help an individual who was hit by a falling tree in Cropton Forest and had a suspected hip injury.

Crews were stood down on the way to the scene as there were enough people to carry the patient to a waiting ambulance.

Both casualties were entitled to be where they were under current lockdown restrictions.
