Scarborough remembers the fallen

Scarborough, in common with the rest of the country, fell silent at 11am, exactly 96 years since the armistice that brought to an end the Great War, was signed.

Remembrance Day services:

Sunday 19.30am – service of Remembrance involving the joining together and blessing of standards and wreaths, a drumhead ceremony and poppies falling during the silence period, Queen Street Methodist Hall and to follow at the RNLI with the laying of wreaths at sea.

To be conducted by the lifeboat chaplain, Rev Pam Jennings.

The slipway will be lined by crew members, sea cadets, standard bearers. Congregants and spectators will watch from the West Pier and beach. High tide is at 2.50pm. Jacob Marton, the youngest crew member, will be the standard bearer.

Sunday 10.40am – a British Legion Remembrance service, Oliver’s Mount war memorial.
