Scarborough road closed after chimney collapses, causing hole in roof of house

A Scarborough road had to be shut after a chimney collapsed and caused a hole in a house roof.

Firefighters and police were called to the property on Barwick Street at 4.53pm on Saturday.

Police shut the road for several hours while firefighters made the roof safe.

The road was open again by 9.10pm.

Firefighters were also called to help at a house on St Sepulchre Street on Saturday after high winds made guttering and a downpipe loose.

The team, called at 8.13pm, removed the guttering to make the area safe.

Tress were also reported as blown over in parts of Scarborough.
