A Scarborough Scout group has “cleaned up” after hosting a fundraising coffee morning, jumble sale and car wash at Westborough Church.
The event was in aid of a new minibus for 46th Scarborough (Westborough) Scouts, which is one of Scarborough’s biggest groups.
The car washing duties were shared out by Group Scout Leader Michael Streets, pictured right, and assistant leaders Asher Haynes, left, and Dave Streets, centre.
Michael, who has been involved with Westborough Church since he was a youngster, said: “It was a busy day. We made £120 on the car wash, and with only three of us it was quite hard work.
“We had some cups of tea brought out, but we were so busy we didn’t get chance to go into the coffee morning!”
However, colleagues told his the event was busy inside as well as out, with a number of stalls selling bric a brac, clothes and books.
Overall the event raised £400 which will go towards the Scout group’s minibus fund.
Michael said: “We were really pleased with the amount raised. The total might go up even more as we’re still waiting for some donations to come in.”
The group is now planning its next event in aid of the minibus, which is likely to be a summer fair at the same venue of Westborough Church.
Michael said: “We’re doing quite well with the minibus fund. We’re hoping that we might be in a position to get one by the end of summer or early autumn.”
