BUDDING young novelists in Scarborough are being encouraged to put pen to paper as the search is on for Yorkshire’s next great literary talent.

The winner of the Young Yorkshire Author competition held by Route Publishing, will be offered a publishing contract and be supported editorially to turn their manuscript into a published book.

Route Editor Ian Daley said: “Not only is Yorkshire’s literary pedigree second to none, we’re also blessed with a rich support network for young writers. This opportunity is designed to give the best of our emerging talent a kick start to their professional career and to produce a cracking book for readers to enjoy.”

Route are looking for a novel or novella of between 30,000-80,000 words written by authors aged 18-30 who are living in Yorkshire.

People considering entering the competition should submit a synopsis, a sample text up to 10,000 words plus a brief biography and covering letter. Further information can be found on
