THE Queen Street Players present the first of two performances of a variety show at Queen Street Central Hall tonight.

Beside the Seadside, Beside the Sea is a programme of sketches, comedy and singing through the years.

The troupe includes Tom Gray, who lives near Durham. He is a regular visitor to the church during the summer, when he and his wife Vi visit Scarborough with their caravan.

The two performances will be slightly different. The second one is next Wednesday. They are due to begin at 7.45pm. Shows coming up at the church include one by James Aconley, pictured, on 3 September.

Tickets cost £7 per adult and £5 for under-18s, including refreshments, and can be booked by ringing organiser Sheena Dunnington on (01723) 376328.
