Sir David Jason was filmed outside the Esplanade Hotel in Scarborough.

The actor and comedian, best-known for playing Derek “Del Boy” Trotter in the long-running BBC comedy series Only Fools and Horses, was seen filming for the new series of Still Open All Hours in the town.

Residents were quick to recognise the 77-year-old and watched on as filming took place outside the Esplanade Hotel on Monday.

One of those was Cynth Everett, who said: “It was all a bit surreal.

“I was surprised really that the crowd could be gathered so close to filming.

“I thought it would have been cordoned off higher up and lower from the hotel.

“We were just asked to go across the road when filming was going to start.

“It was amazing to be so near such a legend.”

Sir David heads the cast as Granville, who runs the corner shop on the BBC comedy show.

The Scarborough filming comes after it was revealed that Sir David was being ‘guarded round the clock’ by security after a ‘credibly threat’ was made against him.

Security vehicles have been tailing him on and off the set of BBC's Still Open All Hours, which is filmed in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

Filming took place on Monday.
